OrganoPor is a research project. The second round has just begun: Together with leading companies in the building materials industry, the Fraunhofer LBF is developing the technology to market maturity.

Sustainable and cost-effective thermal building insulation from natural materials

About OrganoPor

OrganoPor is a research project for developing innovative thermal insulation from cost-effective and mass-available natural materials. The goal of OrganoPor is to develop insulation systems that are thermally insulating, self-supporting, and flame-retardant. OrganoPor’s technological approach consists of coating natural materials with flame-retardant bio-resin and processing them into insulation boards. OrganoPor boards are intended to compete with conventional polystyrene foam boards – and could be used for thermal insulation composite systems in the future, just like these.
