OrganoPor is a research project. The second round has just started: Together with leading companies in the building materials industry, the Fraunhofer-LBF is developing the technology to market maturity.

Sustainable and cost-effective thermal building insulation made from natural materials

About OrganoPor

OrganoPor is a research project to develop innovative thermal insulation from inexpensive and mass-available natural materials. The aim of OrganoPor is to develop insulating systems that are heat-insulating, self-supporting and flame-retardant. OrganoPor’s technological approach consists of encasing natural materials with flame-retardant bioresin and thus processing them into insulating panels. OrganoPor panels should be able to compete with conventional polystyrene foam panels – and could be used like these for thermal insulation composite systems in the future.
